I had the same issues using cartridges whether they had 2 or 5īlades, often got razor burn in the exact same areas trying to get a very close shave. I have given myself some razor burn at times from having difficulty finding my correct cutting angle and using a bit too much pressure. I've been getting very good close shaves with a Dorco PL 602 with Feather blades. Everyone says the shaving style is much more like a cartridge and more intuitive than working to find the correct angle with a DE. From what I've read it seems like most new comers to wetshaving should try injectors before anything else. Sometimes people recommend certain new models of SEs but rarely if ever recommend vintage SEs or injectors. It seems like most beginners to wet shaving are recommended new or vintage DEs. I have given myself some razor burn at times from having difficulty finding my correct cutting angle and using a bit too much pressure. This solution works, the pressure on the blade-clamp mechanism is more than sufficient to hold the razor blade securely in place, and it makes cleaning a pleasure, rather than a chore (one which would probably get put/pushed-off, because of the inherent difficulty in opening the blade-clamp mechanism, with the stock configuration. It seems like most beginners to wet shaving are recommended new or vintage DEs. Arrgghh! I'm not going to allow a manufacturer's design flaw (there, I said it: design flaw) to stand in the way of me shaving comfort. Now it's just a matter of pushing a bit with me thumb, just likes with the "E"-series razor, to release the blade-clamp mechanism. So, I takes me trusty dykes and cuts-off the right-hand side of that spring tip. Update: The heck with this, I says to meself - if both round springs swivel to the left, and if having only slightly more than half of the spring tip butting-up against the tab is good enough for the "E"-series Schick razors, then by golly, it's good enough for the "G"-series, too. Needless to say, moving the spring on the G4, to unlock the blade-clamp mechanism for cleaning is awkward - I have to insert the end of a very thin slot-head screwdriver, or one side of an equally thin pair of needle-nosed pliers, to bend-and-release the spring end.Īnyone with experience on easier ways of doing this? if not experience, than sensible suggestions are also welcome.īTW: as written in this forum, lemon-scented "Scrubbing Bubbles" and a toothbrush, along with a little bit of patience and elbow-grease, really does make 'em shine. However the G4 "66" also has the round spring ( sans side flaps), but both sides of the spring's end are present, with a small slot, into which the same small tab is secured. My question is this: the E3 has the right-hand side of the round-spring's end removed, so that when the spring is swivelled to the right, it butts-up-against a thin tab and locks the blade-clamp assembly in place. Schick Injector Model "E3" on left and Eversharp-Schick Model "66" on right.
